Today marks the close of a meaningful chapter—my last day at Tetrate. Over the past five years, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside an exceptional team to advance the global adoption of Service Mesh and open-source technologies. It’s been a journey of technical depth, community collaboration, and personal growth.

As I wrap up this experience, I find myself energized by new possibilities at the intersection of developer experience, cloud infrastructure, and AI. This post is a reflection—not just on where I’ve been, but on where I hope to contribute next.
From Big Data to Cloud Native
My tech journey began in the era of Hadoop, where I managed large-scale data clusters and optimized distributed systems. That passion evolved with the arrival of Docker and Kubernetes, drawing me into the heart of the cloud-native movement.
In 2018, I dove into the world of Service Mesh with Istio, which transformed the way we think about security, observability, and service-to-service communication. These technologies weren’t just architectural innovations—they represented a new philosophy of how we build resilient, scalable systems.
Five Years of Advocacy and Community at Tetrate
At Tetrate, I served as a Developer Advocate focused on both the open-source and enterprise ecosystems. My work included:
- Leading community education efforts through Tetrate Academy
- Producing technical blogs, whitepapers, and hands-on content to demystify Service Mesh
- Working cross-functionally with product, engineering, and marketing to translate user feedback into product evolution
- Engaging with global developer communities—online and in person—to amplify open-source innovation
One of the most fulfilling aspects of this role was the ability to bridge perspectives: bringing the voice of the developer into product decisions, while also translating complex infrastructure concepts into actionable knowledge.
Looking Ahead: AI, Developer Experience, and Community
As the landscape shifts again—this time driven by AI—I find myself once more at an inflection point. Tools like LLMs, AI agents, and RAG pipelines are redefining how developers build, learn, and collaborate.
In recent months, I’ve been exploring:
- How AI can elevate developer workflows and platform experiences
- How infrastructure and application layers are evolving to support AI-native development
- Ways to build community programs that empower developers to thrive in this new era
These questions excite me. They remind me of the energy I felt when I first discovered Kubernetes. And they point to a future where community building, developer experience, and technological curiosity are more important than ever.
Staying Connected
While I’ve focused on global developer communities in recent years, I remain deeply committed to cultivating inclusive, collaborative spaces—wherever they may be. Whether it’s mentoring contributors, organizing meetups, writing accessible technical content, or helping engineers navigate new technologies, I find purpose in helping others grow.
I’m currently exploring new opportunities where I can:
- Continue advocating for developers and open-source communities
- Help shape the future of developer engagement in cloud and AI
- Support global community programs with regional insights and execution
- Collaborate cross-functionally to bridge product, engineering, and marketing
If you’re working on initiatives in these areas—or if you think I might be a good fit for your team—I’d love to connect.
Gratitude
Thank you to every colleague, partner, and community member I’ve worked with at Tetrate. Your support, feedback, and trust shaped my journey and inspired me to keep growing.
To those who have followed my content, participated in community events, or shared ideas along the way—let’s keep the conversation going. I believe the best work happens when we build together.
🚀 Onward to the next chapter.
